In front of the famous switchbacks and then the view from the top! |
On our next day in San Francisco we had breakfast at our hotel, and then walked to the top of Lombard Street. Donned in our new and much more summer-appropriate attire, we walked to the top and took some typical tourist photos. The surrounding area has lots of beautiful apartments and makes for a really pretty view. However, it's an exceedingly steep walk to the top, so we felt that we definitely had put in our day's worth of cardio!
We then went to Hayes Valley, which is a fashionable neighbourhood in San Francisco. It has lots of high-end boutiques and restaurants. We found the most amazing place to eat: Chez Maman. Which ended up being the highlight of our entire trip! We sat outside on the patio and started with the most incredibly french onion soup we've ever had. I then ordered the Mac & Cheese which has shaved truffles, gruyere cheese, and truffle oil in it! The meal was honestly astonishingly great. I can't remember the last time I had food like that! The server was also especially kind and funny, as well as being extremely attentive and helpful.
Chantal Guillon Macarons! |
After a wonderful meal we decided to go to the Chantal Guillon Macaron shop. Ricki had never had a macaron before, so having ones this incredible was definitely a good start! The macarons were wonderful: light and fluffy but with a gooey centre! I got the Red Velvet, Dark Chocolate, Tahitian Vanilla, and Hazelnut.
Gelato, City Hall, and Crudo e Parma Pizza! |
After tons of amazing food, we stopped in front of San Francisco City Hall...and then went towards our hotel for more food!! We stopped in Little Italy and got some gelato. After resting at the hotel for a bit, we walked 5 minutes to the Carmel Pizza Company and had pizza, wine, and Netflix in bed!
All in all, my absolute favourite day of our trip!
