| Riding the streetcar! |
After our disastrous lunch, we decided to go to Union Square, and our spirits were lifted once we rode our first streetcar! We checked out the square and then decided to head over for Ricki's first H&M experience! We picked up some cute clothes, and then decided to get some much needed food! In H&M we both picked up some more summer appropriate outfits, because even though we had been told that San Francisco was going to be rainy and cold in February, it was in the 70's the whole time! So we were severely overheated in our bulky Canada-proof outfits.
At lunch/dinner, we had a startling and sad experience. We decided to eat at a burger bar that opened onto the street in the middle of Union Square. As we were sitting at the bar waiting for our food, a homeless woman walked in and started going through the garbage cans looking for scraps. As she was about to leave, she suddenly whipped around and came running back into the restaurant...she snatched a burger off of a man's plate, and then ran away laughing. It all happened so quickly that the poor guy didn't even have time to react.
For the rest of our meal we were thoroughly weirded out, so we quickly finished up and then decided to head home.
If you can believe it, all three of my last posts are from the same day! We did SO much that we fell asleep before 10pm when we got back to the hotel!
