Winter Festival Lights in Downtown Kelowna |
In the last few days of my exams, I went downtown to see the Christmas lights display. It was a lot smaller than I expected, but was pretty nonetheless.
All the cousins together! |
After finishing up my finals, we headed over to Vancouver Island to visit with my mum's sister's family were we had our annual Christmas/Secret Santa party. Every year we get together to have a big family party and to give each other Christmas presents. Our family does a "Secret Santa" exchange where we draw the name of one of our family members, and then we give that person a series of gifts that add up to $50. At the end of the gift opening, we all try to guess who our "Secret Santa" is...and much to my family's amusement, even though we've been doing this exchange for many years, I have pulled the name of the same two people alternating every other year!
We spent the weekend hanging out, playing games, and eating tons of delicious food. Rather than eating a traditional 'sit down' Christmas dinner, our tradition is to have a buffet style smorgasbord of all our favourite foods. We put out lots of bite sized appetizers (as well as the occasional dish) and keep the food coming all day long! It's definitely one of my favourite parts of the Christmas season.
